our space
326 Westminster (the former Tom’s BaoBao) is a 1400 square foot community canvas. The interior vision of the space is inspired by an Afro-futuristic vision of how spaces can be better designed and optimally utilized, particularly for Black and Brown folks in urban communities.
In form, we envision the mood and vibe of space to be bold, authentically West African, with natural elements paying homage to the components that make up our food. In function, we are building out the space to allow for as many elements to be movable, from the tables, chairs, kitchen components and even the bar!
The reason for the aspired modularity and flexibility, is for the space to be able to adapt to the community needs and also be shareable. It will primarily serve as a restaurant for Bintimani, but in the hours we will not need full usage of the space, we intend to let the space be fully bookable and usable as a dance studio, event or meeting space, a marketplace, as well as a place for guest chefs to offer their cuisine and guest vendors to offer their products!
